Madhavi Seetamraju is the group leader of the Optical Engineering Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. She is responsible for the group’s vision, welfare, growth, and execution, and is the group’s primary liaison with the other divisions at the Laboratory.

Before moving to the Optical Engineering Group, Seetamraju was an assistant group leader in the Advanced Concepts and Technologies Group and also the Interceptor and Sensor Technology Group, leading the optical technology and systems development portfolio for U.S. Navy and hypersonic applications. She joined the Laboratory in 2011 as a technical staff member in the Active Optical Systems Group working on airborne remote-sensing technologies and then moved to the Advanced Capabilities and Technologies Group to work on space-based optical systems. Her areas of expertise include photonics and remote sensing, passive and active electro-optical systems, and payload design.

Seetamraju received BS, MS, and PhD degrees, all in physics, from universities in India and worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Tokyo before immigrating to the United States. She was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California and worked at a Small Business Innovation Research firm for six years before joining the Laboratory.
