John A. Cortese

Dr. John A. Cortese is a technical staff member in the Quantum Information and Integrated Nanosystems Group. Cortese is involved in theoretical and system-level aspects of quantum information systems, information theory, signal processing and computational complexity.

Prior to joining Lincoln Laboratory, Cortese worked at AT&T Bell Laboratories on surface-acoustic-wave (SAW) device design, cable television system design, and multichip module design and fabrication. In addition, Cortese worked at the MITRE Corporation on electronic countercountermeasure (ECCM) algorithms for phased array RF systems.

Cortese has published numerous papers, book chapters, and workshop presentations on topics spanning quantum computation architectures, classical communication over quantum channels, and information theoretic concepts applied to statistical classification systems.

Cortese received a PhD degree in theoretical physics, a PhD degree in electrical engineering, and an MS degree in applied mathematics from the California Institute of Technology. Cortese also received a BS degree in physics from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
