Counter-Human Trafficking Technology Workshop 2022 - Virtual

VIRTUAL

Human Trafficking is one of the fastest-growing activities of organized crime, generating annual profits of over $100 billion globally. Traffickers are leveraging Internet-related technologies to achieve greater efficiency and anonymity, complicating the ability to defeat these illicit organizations. The counter-trafficking community must also harness technological advances to disrupt these gains, in order to more effectively protect victims and bring traffickers to justice.

The Counter-Human Trafficking Technology Workshop will convene an interdisciplinary group of stakeholders, practitioners, researchers, and technology providers to examine the ways technology is currently used to combat human trafficking, and discuss how recent advances in data science and related disciplines can bring about transformational improvements in capability and impact. The theme for this year’s event will be developing collaborative technology-enabled partnerships.

The invite-only workshop will consist of a series of technical seminars, technology demonstrations, operational case studies, and focused discussion panels across the areas of trafficking investigation and prosecution; supply and demand interdiction operations; information sharing and collaboration; measurement of trafficking; and training. Attendees will interact with a diverse set of individuals from U.S government agencies; federal, state, and local law enforcement and prosecutors; trafficking-related non-governmental organizations; and academic researchers.
