The Colorado Springs Field Site is located in near several space-related military commands and government offices.

The Colorado Springs Field Site supports research and development efforts for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and local U.S. Space Force units. Colorado Springs is home to key sponsors of many space-related programs and numerous operational units that rely on Lincoln Laboratory–developed technologies to conduct their missions — including the National Space Defense Center, National Space Test and Training Complex, and Space Security and Defense Program.

Field site personnel serve in various roles, including systems engineering and analysis, software development, test planning and execution, and high-level sponsor liaising. Space domain awareness software developed by the Laboratory is used operationally at Schriever Space Force Base (SFB). The Laboratory also engages in efforts related to missile defense and military satellite communications. Personnel contribute technical expertise to Schriever SFB, Peterson SFB, U.S. Space Command HQ, and Space Operations Command HQ.

The site is part of a commercial property shared by other DoD contractors and conveniently located near local military installations and sponsor offices. Half of the site’s 8,000 square-foot facility is accredited secure work space. Both halves contain offices, a conference room, and software development labs. The site typically hosts about 30 employees, contingent workers, and consultants, with the capacity to support additional full-time or part-time team members.
